Hi %%First Name%% There’s nothing standing between you and your future except your exams. Knuckling down and getting through the grueling exam period is the most important thing in most students’ lives right now. But what happens next? With thousands of graduates competing for jobs, getting the edge can seem an impossible task. Continuing your studies is one way to get that edge, whether it’s a full post-graduate degree or a short course designed to supplement your skills. Graduates at work Many graduates in the work place have found that continuing to study after completing their undergraduate degree has given them an edge. Schalk Vorster, ex-Rhodes student, says… Schalk Vorster of BSG Africa prepared for working life at Rhodes Univeristy with a BSc in information systems and computer science, followed by an honours in information systems. Today he’s a business consultant, which means his current primary mission is to analyse client organisations from both a technology and a business perspective, and to model solutions based on their needs. Read more about Schalk’s success here.
Ask the experts Whatever your career dilemma, GradX’s experts can help you figure out a solution. This month’s featured question is: Q: I completed a National Diploma in Accounting. I want to continue with my studies. How do I get hold of bursaries? A: Click here for information about careers in accounting and what credentials are required to help you decide how to further your studies. Then go to the press offices of the recruiters listed on the left hand side of this section to find which of them offer bursaries and how to apply. You haven’t mentioned how much further you want to continue with your studies, but if you struggle to find a bursary you could also choose to work and study at the same time. Doing your ACCA or CIMA will allow you to do that. If you have a question for our experts, click here.
